Vivo X80 mobile was launched on the 25th of April, 2022. It is the latest flagship handset with impressive specifications and features. The phone comes with an advanced 4nm MediaTek Dimensity chip capable of providing outstanding performance for users, particularly those gamers.
With its AMOLED screen that comes with 120Hz resolution, it is pretty smooth when surfing. A triple-camera setup at the back is among the essential characteristics of this model, the Vivo X80. It comes with the Sony IMX866 50MP primary lens, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 12MP telephoto lens with a 2x optical zoom. Curiously, Vivo is using its ISP named “Vivo V1+” here. It’s Design
The Vivo X80 is well-designed and has all the features you’d think of from a premium smartphone. Its display is oversized, with curves on either side that will surely grab everyone’s Interest. The design reminded me of earlier Samsung flagship smartphones with similar displays.
Frames of X80 are constructed from metal, which offers a high-end appearance and feels. It features volume and power buttons on the right, which are also steel. They provide a sturdy feeling and clicky feedback when they are pressed.
Vivo has flattened the frame at the top and also on the bottom. The camera module in the back is enormous and takes up more than a third of the back panel. It is also slightly protruding; however, since it covers almost all the length of the phone, it doesn’t cause it to shake when placed on an even surface. The camera module features three sensors, laser autofocus hardware, and two LED flash.
The back on the X80 is made of glass, and Vivo has added an ebony finish for its Urban Blue variant. The glossy finish makes the phone resist fingerprints with ease. This color is distinctive and eye-catching, making the phone stand out from the crowd.
It’s a 6.78 AMOLED Display
In terms of display capabilities, the Vivo X80 has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution. It features a 120Hz refresh rate and the ability to sample at 240Hz. The display is made of Schott’s Xensation Up glass to protect against scratches and houses an in-display fingerprint scanner.
In addition, its powerful AMOLED display allows for excellent viewing angles. The display was sufficiently bright to be visible even in direct sunlight.
50 MP Primary Lens
The Vivo X series phones are well-known for their camera performance, and the X80 comes with several expectations over its head. Vivo has outfitted the X80 with the primary camera of 50 megapixels with OIS, an optical image stabilizer (OIS), and the 12-megapixel portrait camera equipped with 2X optical zoom and an ultra-wide-angle camera with 12 megapixels.
The camera application for the Vivo X80 comes with Zeiss Portrait styles and Zeiss Cinematic Video Bokeh modes that simulate an anamorphic lens type of output. Vivo has also added features like the Zeiss T*-coated coating on their camera lenses to minimize ghosting and flares. For selfies, the Vivo X80 is an excellent camera for taking selfies. Vivo X80 uses a 32-megapixel front camera.
This Vivo X80 also has a toggle for Zeiss Natural color rendering, which alters the color profile of the output. The camera’s performance in daylight was impressive, and the photos showed decent dynamic range.
The Vivo X80 automatically switches to the ultra-wide-angle camera when it is close enough to the subject. The macro images were crisp because of the 12-megapixel resolution. This Vivo X80 did surprise me with its low-light camera performance. It quickly analyzed the situation and set up the camera to capture a low-light shot. It took around three seconds to take the picture. However, it did achieve excellent detail.
32 MP Wide Selfie with 4K Video Shooting
Selfies with the Vivo X80 were taken in full 32-megapixel resolution when using the default. It took selfies in regular mode, and those shots in Portrait mode were obvious. In low light conditions, it was able to take decent photos. Vivo X80 managed good-quality photographs with the flash feature on the screen.
Video recording with the Vivo X80 maxes out at 4K on the primary camera and 1080p for its selfie camera. We get stabilized videos recorded in daylight and low-light well.
Vivo also has the ‘Horizontal Line‘ stabilization feature that could hold the horizon’s position even after rotating the phone to 90°. However, video recording using this feature is limited to 1080p resolution.
It’s MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC Chipset (4nm)
Its Vivo X80 is the first smartphone in India that comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC. The 4nm SoC features an octa-core architecture featuring one ARM Cortex-X2 core that runs at 3.2GHz with three Cortex A710 performance cores that run at 2.85GHz and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores running at 1.8GHz.
Similar to the X80, The X80 also features Vivo’s V1+ imaging chip. Vivo claims it has added an enormous vapor cooling chamber that helps maintain temperatures under control. Both models let you use up to 4GB of memory in virtual RAM.
It’s the Latest Android 12 with Funtouch OS 12
Vivo sells the X80 equipped with Funtouch OS 12, based on Android 12. My device had the latest May 2022 Android security patch, which was ok.
Funtouch OS 12 has multiple choices for customization as well as custom themes. However, this Vivo X80 comes with several preinstalled bloatware applications, and I’m not too fond of it. You can remove most of these applications immediately to free up storage space.
Its Performance and RAM
The phone performed well in everyday use, and it was never required to wait too long for your apps to download. Its 8GB version of Vivo X80 had the RAM extension feature turned on by default and configured to use 4GB of memory.
In terms of multi-tasking, you do not have to be concerned. There’s no issue in switching across multiple applications; most of them will be in memory, running in the background. If you’re a regular user, you’ll need a device that Vivo X80 should be able to meet the demands of your life.
Its Battery & Charging
Vivo X80 also offers good battery longevity. The phone ran for around an hour and a quarter. I am using my usage generally consists of social media, gaming, and a little photography.
Similar to the SuperVOOC charger, 80W is massive. However, it’s not as heavy as the charger that has 120W. The included charger is a great way to recharge your phone to 80 percent in 30 minutes. Then, 10 minutes were enough to charge it fully.
Verdict
If you’re looking for a premium Android smartphone but don’t want to buy a new one, you should consider that the Vivo X80 might be exactly the device you’re looking for. The X80 provides an excellent combination of high-performance with long battery life, fast charging, and powerful cameras.
